Taking apart a Rolex Datejust

The Rolex 3035 Datejust has many changes in its design, when compared to the Rolex 1570. This 3035 mechanism is from 1984. The micro-stellar screws are inside the balance wheel, making it more aerodynamic. The escape wheel has more teeth, the hairspring is thicker, and the mainspring is also thicker, in order to design a high-beat escapement with 28,800 beats per hour. The third wheel is in the centre, with the second hand mounted onto it directly. The third wheel shares its jewel, which has a two-step design, with the rotor for the automatic winding mechanism. The crown can be pulled out in two steps to make setting the calendar more straightforward. The bridge for the pallet assembly has been redesigned. These are just a few of the changes that Rolex made to the design.
