The Mission of San José y San Miguel de Aguayo (Saint Joseph and Saint Michael of Aguayo), founded in 1720, is the biggest and most impressive mission, with its large, well-defended gates and its artfully decorated church, completed in 1768.

The other well is near the wall that protects the mission. Rooms for the Indian workers were built along the wall.

They also had a large warehouse for storing the harvest.
